Virtual Author Chat with Stephen and Karen Rusiniak

Virtual Author Chat with Stephen and Karen Rusiniak In-Person / Online

Please join us for a virtual author chat with local children's authors, Stephen and Karen Rusiniak.

Stephen Rusiniak is a retired Wayne Police detective who specialized in juvenile/family matters. Today he shares his thoughts through his writing, which includes published pieces in newspapers, magazines, and books—16 stories in the iconic Chicken Soup for the Soul series and two additional stories in another book anthology.

As a former special education teacher, Karen Rusiniak has seen firsthand how difficult it was for special needs children to fit in with their peers as well as their struggles to make friends.

Karen says that she never gave much thought to writing. “Me writing a book. No. Steve is the writer in the family.” But, when Steve asked his wife to help him with an idea that became their first published children’s story, Gary the Goose Belonged, she jumped right in. “Being a part of this writing process has been an extremely rewarding and totally new experience,” she has since discovered.

Their second children’s story, Jenny Cut Her Hair will be released later this year.

Stephen and Karen reside in Wayne, NJ, and West Ocean City, MD.

Gary the Goose Belonged by Stephen and Karen Rusiniak is about how inclusion champions exclusion, where being different too often means being excluded, but where, in the end, Gary the goose belonged.
