"Telling Your Story"  - a six part writing workshop with local author, Barbara Worton.  Space is limited.  Please register for this event.  

TELLING YOUR STORYDo you have a story you want to tell? A memoir or maybe a novel you want to write? A writing workshop like, TELLING YOUR STORY, can help you to get started and to keep you going. Over six sessions, Barbara Worton will share some tips and techniques for getting your story out of your head and onto paper. Barbara will talk about why telling your story is important for you and others, cover the elements of a well-written story and share some truths about storytelling and publishing—and offer a safe and friendly environment for sharing your ideas and work.

Barbara Worton - is an essayist, poet and playwright. She is the author of Bedtime Stories: The short, long and tall tales of a sleepwriter. Her children’s book Too Tall Alice won the Moonbeam Award. With Rochelle Udell, she co-authored The Adventures of The Baker’s Daughter, www.adventuresofthebakersdaughter.com, and posts a weekly blog. Her poetry, essays and articles have been published in literary, women’s and business publications. She is the author of the choreopoem, First Person Plural. With Linda Dini Jenkins, she co-authored a two-women performance piece, If I’m Talking, Why Aren’t You Listening? She has recently completed Chatterbox, a collection of short stories, and is working on a novel, The Long Road Home.

Janette Pardo

Janette is the Assistant Director. She is responsible for ordering books for the adult fiction, nonfiction and large print collections. Janette has a background in archival processing and preservation and is currently hard at work processing the Lockett Local History Collection.  

An avid reader, Janette runs the Romantic Fiction (first Wednesday of the month) and the Page Turner's (second Wednesday of the month) book groups. She is also a supporter of the romance genre and will gladly help "match you" with the perfect romance novel.  

In 2021, Janette launched the Virtual Author Chat series where she chats with local authors about their writing and their path to publication. All of the chats have been recorded and are available to watch on the library's YouTube channel.
