Writing Workshop - Creating Conflict with Stacey Wilk In-Person
Join us for a writing workshop with Stacey Wilk.
Creating Conflict: All stories are conflict driven. Unless your characters are making choices under pressure, there is no conflict and without conflict, your reader will become bored and close your book. No one wants that. This workshop is designed to show you how to keep your readers turning pages and how to make your characters as uncomfortable as possible.
From an early age, best-selling and award-winning author, Stacey Wilk, told tales as a way to escape. At six she wrote short stories in composition notebooks, at twelve she wrote a novel on a typewriter, in high school biology she wrote rock star romances in her binder instead of paying attention.
But it wasn’t until many years later, inspired by her children and a looming birthday, that she finally took her story-telling seriously. And published her first novel in 2013. Since then, she’s gone on to publish thirty-four more so women everywhere can indulge in books with heroines just like them. Older. Wiser. Looking for love.
She isn’t done telling stories. Not by a long shot. If you want to read her emotional and honest books about family, romance, and second chances.

Event Organizer
Janette is the Assistant Director. She has a B.A. in History and an M.S. in Library Science. Among her many responsibilities, her favorite is selecting and ordering books for the adult fiction, nonfiction and large print collections.
An avid reader, Janette runs the Romantic Fiction (first Wednesday of the month) and the Page Turners (second Wednesday of the month) book groups. She is also a supporter of the romance genre and will gladly help "match you" with the perfect romance novel.
In 2021, Janette launched a Virtual Author Chat series where she chats with local authors about their writing and their path to publication. All of the chats have been recorded and are available to watch on the library's YouTube channel. In 2025, Janette established a writers' circle at the library. Pen to Paper at Wayne PL meets on the third Saturday of each month. In concert with the writers' circle, Janette also organizes monthly writing workshops which are led by local published authors.
